Earlier this year Ruth Singer joined Creative Leicestershire as a consultant to develop Made in Leicestershire as a brand and as a project. She is now in the process of talking to artists and makers around the county, working on promotional activity for Leicestershire makers and consulting councils and businesses about their needs and preferences.
The Made in Leicestershire directory and website was established in 2007 with support from Arts Council England, and this was followed with the Select Directory coming out in 2014. Following the launch of the Creative Calling blog and its recent website refresh, Creative Leicestershire closed the Made in Leicestershire site recognising that it was out of date both in terms of design and functionality and featured many creatives who were no longer in business or trading from Leicestershire. In anticipation of the next exciting phase for Made in Leicestershire over the next few months. Creative Calling will be featuring blog posts from Ruth Singer who will be writing about Made in Leicestershire activity and ideas for its future.
Ruth will also be running networking events and focus groups with individuals and arts organisations during Autumn 2018, finalising the plans for the new proposed project in early 2019.
We hope to source funding to take the best and most exciting proposals for Made in Leicestershire forward later in 2019.
